Description | The paper deals with the relationship between human dignity and right to life. Both terms play a central role in the theory and practice of human rights protection. The paper shows that the legal justification of the application of new biomedical technologies lead to the decoupling of human dignity from right to life. As an example, one can lead today's debates on the application of the new non-invasive methods of prenatal diagnosis. Representatives of the prevailing opinion see these methods as a violation of human dignity, although dealing with the unborn human beings right to life. In short, not every violation of life is understood as a violation of human dignity in today's legal-theoretical discourse. The objective of the contribution is to confirm that an effective human rights protection strategy must come only from a close connection between human dignity and right to life. |
