Description Such as other security forces and troops, at the beginning of 20th century the Brno Municipal Police had its mounted unit as well. The decision to establish it made by the Municipal Council followed shortly after an incident during a demonstration that took place on October 2nd 1905 and resulted in death of a young student and Sokol Community member Fratišek Pavlík. The first day of service of mounted patrolmen coincided with the precession of William Cody, also known as Buffalo Bill, which was rather symbolic. In the following years the number of members of mounted unit ranged from 10 to 13 and they used to be deployed to areas with difficult terrain or a need to make the police authority stand out. The mounted unit had been performing its tasks until 1922 when the last four horses were sold along with stocks of fodder and the men relocated to other workplaces.
