Description | Culture monuments protection expand its field of interest from protection of isolated extraordinary important buildings and small artefacts placed in the landscape to the space protection of specifically culturally modified landscapes during last decades. Abandoned medieval rural landscapes with good preserved remnants of villages are also this case. Search for former villages, organization of fields and road network was high time-consuming activity. Recently very detailed maps information was published on web site of the Czech Office for Surveying, Mapping and Cadastre - digital terrain model of the 5th generation (5G) with resolution 2 x 2 m - and related analyses are the most useful. Map of forest soil sites (i.e. Lesnická typologická mapa) in the scale of 1 : 10 000 is still neglected source of information on loamy soils, which often coincide with areal of medieval villages and fields. Agronomical soils maps are useful in recognizing pre-historical Ecumena, especially in its borderline. Maps of biotopes available in scale 1: 10 000 too, brings information about old type of forest management (coppiced woodlands), but also about suitable localities for medieval villages, fields and dry pastures yet overgrown by forests. |
