Description The chapter describes the objectives, background, methods and results of the CPACT project substitution. The aim of the study described in this chapter is to explore the relationship between the currently experienced depression rate and the morphosyntactic and partly semantic characteristics of the (Czech) language of the adult population. The study is conducted on a clinically intact population of Czech adults (n = 200, quota selection) and a clinical population of people currently treated with emotion disorders (n = 72), native speakers in Czech. Were confirmed hypotheses about the relationship between levels of depression and the occurrence of words with negative emotional charge (positive correlation) and positive emotional charge (negative correlation) and in the texts produced in the context of positive thinking and scenarios (motivation letter, letter from vacation), interpretation of the relationship refers to paradoxical consequence of negative self-focus of depressed people, cognitive settings of depressed persons according to Harris theory and attribution theory of depression. In addition, predictive models have been developed to predict depression based on the combination of selected and validated text parameters (separately for men and women). The results of exploratory analyzes suggest that, with increasing depression, the focus on present and past increases at the expense of the future, the specificity of the text is decreasing, the uncertainty of the text is growing. The results are encouraging and open the door for new ways of screening and early diagnosis of the risk of developing depression.
