Description A new archaeological site was discovered in 2016 in connection with the reconstruction of road No. II/490 linking the town of Uherský Brod to village of Nivnice. During a rescue archaeological excavation it was possible to examine a grain pit dating to the Bronze Age. The excavated object offered a small collection of archaeological material consisting of ceramics, daub, animal bone material, macro lithic stone industry and unfired clay matter. Newly discovered traces of settlement activities enrich, above all, our up to date knowledge of the structure and density of settlement, subsistence model and utilisation of abiotic resources at the Neolithic period and the Bronze Age in the region of Uherský Brod, and, in a wider context, also in the framework of the whole valley of the river Moravia. Intrusions contained in the filling of the object, as well as the results of surface prospecting, indicate that the locality was settled by the Linear Pottery Culture from the beginning of the Neolithic Age.
