Description Thirty samples of dried fruit were described from the point of view of the risks of microbiological, lead and cadmium contamination. Ten types of fruit were tested in three variants. There were dried fruits from conventional and organic production, including lyophilized fruits. Positive fi ndings of the total count of aerobic and facultatively anaerobic microorganisms showed microbial contamination in all tested samples. In addition, contamination of some samples with microscopic fungi, yeasts, presumptive bacteria of the species Bacillus cereus, Staphylococcus aureus and Staphylococcus epidermidis has been proven. Coliform bacteria were not detected in any sample. In samples of dried fruit, quantities of lead and cadmium were below the limit of detection or very low. The maximum legal limit for the lead and cadmium contents in fruit was not exceeded in any sample.
