Description | Dogen was a great thinker, scholar, teacher, and writer of the Kamakura period (1185-1333), the founder of the Japanese Soto Zen school. He authored hundreds of texts, the most important of which have been gathered in his Shobo genzo manuscript. In this paper, I endeavour to present a detailed linguist analysis of Zenki, chapter 22 of the Shobo genzo, to illustrate the language of Dogen and his period. |
