Description | Department of Geography, Faculty of Education, Masaryk University together with project partners Biosphere Reserve Dolní Morava, o.p.s., Catholic University in Ružomberok, City of Ružomberok and Constantine the Philosopher University in Nitra have prepared an interesting exhibition on UNESCO World Heritage Sites. The exhibition in the form of 26 posters presents three important UNESCO sites - the Lower Morava Biosphere Reserve and the Lednice-Valtice Area on the Czech side and Vlkolínec on the Slovak side. Although they are three different monuments in terms of area size and approach to protection, they solve everyday common problems, eg. delimitation of the protection zone, degree of protection or communication between state administration authorities. The main reason for the presentation of these monuments is important anniversaries that have been celebrated in recent years. The monument of folk architecture Vlkolínec was established in 1993 and has been on the prestigious UNESCO list for 25 years. The Lednice-Valtice area was included in the UNESCO list in 1996, the 20th anniversary was held in 2016. The Lower Morava Biosphere Reserve has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 2003, celebrating its 15th anniversary in 2018 in this prestigious society . On individual posters are presented topics such as. introduction of both destinations including basic description, nature and landscape protection - ponds, land use of Lednice-Valtice area, historical parks and alleys, historical development - Vlkolínec yesterday and today, parks and objects of Lednice-Valtice area, viticulture or revitalization and reconstruction works in the area - restoration of haylofts in Vlkolínec, reconstruction of buildings in the Lednice-Valtice area. Several posters also present important villages and destinations, eg. the town of Valtice and the village of Hlohovec or the Slavonic fortified settlement in Mikulčí. A supplement is the presentation of the results of the work of primary school pupils in Ružomberok on the poster Vlkolínec through the eyes of children.
