Description | In the field of psychotherapy research, attention has recently been paid to the adverse effects of psychotherapeutic interventions. The aim of our paper is to investigate the prevalence and context of these adverse effects in group psychotherapy clients in the Czech Republic. The paper is based on data from an ongoing research project focused on the effectiveness of group psychotherapy provided in the framework of day care treatment (GA18-08512S). At the end of treatment, a questionnaire identifying adverse effects of psychotherapy (NEQ-32) is administered to clients. In this paper, we focus on the frequency of various areas of adverse effects and their perceived intensity. Furthermore, we focus on the association between these adverse effects on the one hand and client pre-treatment characteristics (eg baseline symptom severity or demographic indicators), therapeutic process (eg therapeutic alliance), and treatment outcomes (eg change in depression and anxiety). |
