Description Our understanding depends from where we observe the process of change in psychotherapy, on the perspective we apply. In Gestalt therapy, there are basically three perspectives we can use: personal perspective, dialogical perspective and field theory perspective. Each of them provides us with another kind of understanding and offers us different kinds of guidelines. In the text, answers from the three different perspectives are offered to these questions: What is changing? How can we understand psychopathological symptoms? What kind of change do we aim for in therapy. How can a therapist support the change? What can be a specific supportive third party for therapists? A special attention is paid to the application of the field theory perspective as the essential and developing paradigm in concontemporary Gestalt therapy.
