Description Will the limit stand within the current social and legal discourse, or will it break down? That is the question. Submitted contribution is dedicated to a critical analysis of an age limit differing children from minors with legal capacity in labour law. The attention has been focused on a progressive historical evolution of the concept of an age limit for the ability to perform dependent work, respectively to enter into basic employment law relationships and to be bound thereto. The possible necessity of a re-definition of currently incorporated age limits within the legislation of the Czech Republic is therefore accented through various branches of law, depending on recent evolutional tendencies related to global economical transformations. The age limits contained in selected European legal regulations have been also compared. On the basis of what has been stated in the text, it includes suggestions de lege ferenda as well as it tries to answer the question, whether or not there is any legitimate interest for keeping the age limits as currently legally determined, i.e. whether or not these limits should be considered as archaic.
