Description | This monograph brings new and develops previous knowledge of interdisciplinary topics, such as consumption and retail. Retail and consumption have undergone a significant transformation over the last 30 years. In the retail sector, globalization trends have begun to be evident to which consumers have responded by changing their purchasing behavior. Consumers have become part of the consumer society. The authors evaluate the development of retail in Slovakia and partly also in the Czech Republic, analyze urban and rural retail environment through case studies. They develop the knowledge base of e-retail and reflect on the functioning of the food system at the local level. The authors' role is to answer the basic questions Where do we shop? What do I buy? Why do we buy? Retail and consumption sites as well as consumer behavior are analyzed. The aim of this chapter is to evaluate retail in the city with a focus on shopping centers. The task of the authors is to analyze the development and construction of shopping centers in Slovakia from a temporal, spatial and functional point of view. |
