Description Th is article focuses on precedential eff ect of judgments of the European Union Court of Justice. It analyzes how the Court of Justice works with its own previous decisions and how it demands that national courts work with them. Th e aim of the article is, therefore, to answer the question if and to what extent th Court of Justice decisions have precedential eff ects. It also deals with the question what is the purpose of precedential eff ect in the Union law. Precedential nature of court decisions is still a live topic in academic discussions. It is a topic that requires theoretical underpinning and at the same time it has a great signifi cance for legal practice. Th is article aims to contribute to academic discussion on this topic in relation to the precedential eff ect of judgments of the Court of Justice.
