Description | Well-formed narrative memory is a prerequisite for the ability to create and tell stories. Many researches examined the ability of children to create their own stories, eg. according to a picture book or otherwise (Chrz, 2007). This research, on the other hand, deals with the ability of children to reproduce the heard story. Data were collected three times (March, June, November). Our 84 respondents were between 3 and 7 years, the average was 5 years. We let them (three times) immediately repeat the heard story, which was constructed as a fairy tale. The representations of the story form a continuum: non-explicit and non-analyzable representations, non-explicit and analyzable representations and explicit representations. The paper deals with the relationship between these three types of representation and the structure of narrative memory. |
