Description | One of the factors influencing the quality of teaching is teacher shortage, caused, among other factors, also by drop-out of qualified teachers who leave their schools or the teaching profession. The most vulnerable professional group are novice teachers. The presentation discussed the findings of a research study realized in Czech primary and lower secondary schools, focusing on the objective determinants influencing the decision of the teachers whether to saty at the current school or leave it. The research was carried out in several phases in 2015-2017, and included a questionnaire survey and interviews with teachers.The determinants were identified at the interactive level (pupils, class), institutional level (school, colleagues, leadership) and cultural level (close community including parents and broader cultural, social and political context). |
