Description Glioblastoma multiforme (GBM) is the most frequent primary brain malignancy of astrocytic origin. The prognosis remains very poor with the median overall survival (OS) being between 12 and 16 months from diagnosis despite early use of conventional medical therapy. Identifying new therapeutic targets, as well as prognostic and predictive biomarkers for accurate stratification of patients is therefore of utmost importance. Long non-coding RNAs (lncRNAs) are regulators of gene expression having critical impact on both physiological processes and the molecular pathology of GBM, indicating their potential as biomarkers and therapeutic targets.
