Description | The chapter tries to find answers to the questions why there should be feminine forms of the names of various professions, but why feminine forms of surnames are sometimes considered redundant. At the same time, it offers several possibilities of how untransliterated surnames could participate in morphosyntactic relations in Czech, since their non-syllabification is unacceptable to the Czech linguistic sensibility, especially for Russian (and generally other Slavic) surnames, in which the Czech native speaker subconsciously expects the occurrence of a inflectional ending, so that their non-syllabification disturbs the fluency of the text. |
