Description Burning of churches was mainly connected with the radical black metal Norwegian subculture of the 1990s, which subsequently inspired other sympathizers elsewhere in the world with such transgressive acts. The images of burning churches have become one of the brands of more orthodox black metal and to this day they are a part of its symbolic portfolio and its own identity-forming mythology in which figures of church burners such as Varg Vikernes, Euronymous, Faust and others appear. The contribution deals with the question of how black metallers in the Czech Republic view church burnings, more specifically how they interpret these acts and whether they agree with them. For this purpose, data from 5 short interviews with black / pagan metallers from 2017 were used.
