Description | This study analyses the legation of Grandmaster Michal Küchmeister at the court of Wenceslaus IV (late September/October 1414). The Grandmasters’ archive (now the Geheimes Staatsarchiv Preußischer Kulturbesitz in Berlin) contains the original report on this legation (XX. HA, OBA, no. 2147). The report, written by the jurist and Warmian canon Kaspar Schuwenpflug, and the Prussian knight from the Land of Chełmno, Jan of Orsichau, is analysed from the perspective of the history of diplomatics in the Late Middle Ages, prosopography and the conflict between the Order of the Teutonic Knights and the Polish-Lithuanian Union. |
