Citation
Description The study examines the financial conditions under which property transfers of subject real estate in the Moravian countryside took place in the early centuries of the early modern period. Based on a comparison of research results from several manorial estates, which used a large set of data obtained especially from an extremely valuable and unique archive source – from land registers and orphan books – the paper deals not only with farm prices and their changes, but also the extent and functioning of the instalment system to pay for them. The researcher has also looked into the special financial transactions connected with the property transfers of farm holdings, such as the buying up of farm money, and the involvement of rural financial institutions in the rural area, especially orphans’ cash boxes and church endowments in the repayment system. The achieved knowledge from the Moravian milieu is compared, if the state of research allows it, with the results of researches from the areas of Bohemia.
