Citation
Description The presented paper aims at the analysis and mutual comparison of two festivals, for which the theme of fire as a means of revival is typical. On the one hand, he deals with the Philip-Jacob's wards (also known as the "burning of witches", "Walpurgis Night", etc.), on the other hand, the fires burned on the eve of the feast of St. John the Baptist. Based on the analysis of their historical development and their own field research, it presents the differences and similarities in their current life in the Moravian-Slovak border. However, it also presents general laws that form the broader context of all festivals associated with burning fires. In the light of problematic circumstances, which in the spring of this year significantly affected the possibilities of holding social events, the paper also offers examples of several possible solutions chosen by the organizers in organizing this year's events held during the night of the Philippines.
