| Description | Circulatory instability - circulatory dysfunction is common in the intensive care unit (ICU). Its most severe manifestation - circulatory shock - occurs in up to a third of patients admitted to the ICU. Shock is one of the most important causes of early death in ICU patients. Early detection and treatment of circulatory instability are vital to prevent tissue damage and the subsequent development of multiorgan dysfunction syndrome, which is the most common global cause of death in ICU patients. |
