Description | The Eastern Partnership has been relatively successful even though the political situation in EaP countries is often unstable. On the other hand, EU has not always been consistent in its neighbourhood policy. However, it is understandable due to the heterogeneity of the EaP countries and differing intensity of the Russian influence in the region. As the author concludes, EU should not abolish sanctions on Russia if any progress in Minsk process is not visible to avoid loosing the face of a normative actor. The cooperation between the EU and EEU seems unlikely due the atmosphere of mistrust and suspicion. EU neighbourhood policy may receive a new impetus since for the first time, a separate chapter in the new multiannual financial framework will be reserved for this policy area. |
