Description | Forensic medicine is a small multidisciplinary branch whose competences and qualifications are not harmonized in an international comparison or within the European Union. Some competencies can be considered exclusive and historically given, typically performing forensic autopsies. However, there are a several expert activities in which experts from other fields also participate. At the same time, forensic medicine is a field sensitive to changes in national legislation, which may have an adverse impact and must be paid attention to during the preparation phase. In the Czech Republic, this was the case in 2018, when there was an effort to abolish the traditional institute of recruiting two experts at forensic autopsies, and in 2009, when obtaining a qualification for forensic medicine was temporarily significantly complicated. |
