Description | The article presents an analysis of seven Hallstatt culture graves found during a rescue survey projects at a site locally known as “Na široké” in the Brno borough of Horní Heršpice in the years 1987 and 2007, namely five inhumation or biritual chamber graves and two simple cremation graves. The most notable of these graves is one of a male belonging to the highest echelons of society attributed to the Horákov culture. It contained a sword and horse harness. Located in a grave of an older woman were remains of hardened birch bark tar, possibly a form of natural medicine. Despite the fact that some of these graves were disrupted due to secondary intervention, it was still possible to determine the timeframe of the burial site in Ha C1b to Ha D2. |
