Description | The use of phytotherapy in treating gastrointestinal complaints has a profound historical background and its importance has persisted into modern medicine. Within European phytotherapy, medicinal herbs are usually classified according to their main active constituents. In the Czech Republic, a number of products from the group of phytopharmaceuticals are currently registered for managing gastrointestinal complaints the administration of which has been based on experience with long-term use (traditional herbal medicinal products) or substantiated by clinical trials. Around half of the registered phytopharmaceuticals include teas and tea blends, followed by drops, solutions, and capsules available at the market. |
