| Description | The study on the case examples of recent opera and theater performances focused on the fate of visual artists in the period of state socialism points to the contribution that performative art can have in shifting the perception and interpretation of burning issues of contemporary history, as well as professional issues pushed into the background in this context and art history. The theme is a reflection on the performance “Monument” premiered by the Brno National Theater in February 2020 and inspired by the fate of the author of the Stalin monument in Prague, Otakar Švec, and the fate of female artists under totalitarianism reflected in October 2020 by the piece “A Short Visit will please” at VILA Štvanice Theater in Prague. |
