| Description | The text introduces a class of famous epistemological thought experiments, the so-called Gettier examples, that challenged the classical definition of knowledge. In addition to an exposition of the examples themselves, the work offers a historical context for earlier, similarly focused experiments and their corresponding interpretations. Particular attention is paid to the reactions that the Gettier examples elicited; the text presents both the strengths and weaknesses of these most famous attempts to correct the classical definition of knowledge. |
