Description | This presentation informs Czech and Slovakian gynecological communities about the existence of Agenda Europe, a pan-European ultra-conservative Christian network, which since its creation in 2013, intends to rewind sexual and reproductive freedoms in all European countries. The presentation contrasts Agenda Europe’s manifesto „Restoration of the Natural Order “ with a position statement of the European Society of Contraception and Reproductive Health „The Madrid Declaration. “ This declaration defends evidence-based medicine and respect of human rights. It underlines the importance of contraception and its wide choice and availability, access to legal and safe abortion and sterilization, infertility diagnostics and treatment, prenatal diagnostics, prevention and therapy of sexually transmitted infections, and the importance of comprehensive sexuality education for the future reproductive health of young generations. The presentation focuses on marginalized and stigmatized groups, which would suffer the most if Agenda Europe succeeded (LGBT+ community, adolescents, people with disabilities, language and cultural barriers, refugees, sexual workers). The presentation points out the clash of ultra-conservatism and liberalism, especially that ultra-conservatism of Agenda Europe leads to suppressing and punishing deeply personal decisions, has a negative impact on the sexual and reproductive health of individuals and populations, and undermines liberal democracy built on tolerance, human rights, and secular laws. The presentation ends by proclaiming support for the preservation of full availability of full scope of sexual and reproductive health and the defense of liberal values, where choice depends on individuals. |
