Description | In 2017–2019, a project titled “Anthropological, forensic and historical examination of the mummy of Baron Trenck” was implemented in cooperation of the Brno City Museum, the Capuchin Province in the Czech Republic and the Department of Anthropology, Faculty of Science, Masaryk University. The naturally mummified remains of Baron Trenck enabled to make a series of non-invasive examinations of the mummy. The diagnostics revealed injuries on the skeleton and on preserved soft tissues. We followed up the lifestyle markers, robusticity of bones, development of muscular mass and other aspects, which helped us to reconstruct details of the military career of Franz Trenck. One of the project outputs was a 3D virtual reconstruction of the face and figure of the pandur commander, including a visualisation of the effects of his war injuries. |
