Description | Intangible cultural tradition has always been a relatively dynamic phenomenon and its continual development can be observed throughout whole history of mankind. Despise that the amplifying effect of globalization, marketing, and new media in 2nd half of 20th century accelerated this process beyond scale. Now we observe shifts in meaning of many traditional customs, the adoption of different foreign traditions or the emergence of completely new festivities. The main goal of this paper is to analyze the fundamental factors that have most significantly influenced the development of traditional folk customs in the last century, supplemented by examples of several festivals imported into the Czech cultural tradition in the last 30 years. |
