Description | The paper analyzed different approaches as well as trends that are being applied in staging operas with motives taken from the ancient Roman history, especially those of the genre "opera seria". It assessed these stagings as for their value in teaching Roman history at high schools and universities. La clemenza di Tito by W. A. Mozart - which used an older libretto by Pietro Metastasio with adjustments made by Caterino Mazzola, and its selected recent stagings (from the 2nd half of the 20th century onwards) were used as an example. |
