Description Prostate cancer is one of the most common cancers in men, and its incidence in the Czech Republic has almost tripled over the last twenty years. At the same time, the number of deaths from this disease is three times lower. This significant difference is mainly due to the possibility of screening in the framework of preventive examinations by district doctors and also modern treatment. In Western industrialised countries, about 40% of the male population is at risk of developing prostate cancer during their lifetime. However, only about 10% become symptomatic, i.e. develop unpleasant symptoms that lead the patient to a doctor. In the first stage, the disease has almost no symptoms, so preventive screening is a prerequisite for early detection.
