Description | Chronic lymphocytic leukaemia (CLL) is a disease with a remarkably heterogeneous clinical course. The diagnostic procedures and therapeutic interventions need to be individually tailored according to patient age, comorbidities and therapeutic aims. We have seen crucial developments in prognostication and therapy in the recent years. The introduction of oral signalling pathway targeted inhibitors (ibrutinib, idelalisib and venetoclax) has resulted in revolutionary improvement of CLL patients’ fate. Results of novel clinical trials with direct impact on clinical practice are accumulating with hitherto unprecedented speed. Therefore, the Czech CLL Study Group, the working group of the Czech Haematological Society, has developed these updated guidelines to facilitate the decision-making process for diagnosis and treatment in routine practice. The guidelines are based on a comprehensive analysis of current literature and follow the principles of evidence-based medicine. |
