Description Marble belongs to marginal and therefore omitted stone raw materials in the prehistory of Central Europe. In this region we note its use so early as in the oldest agrarian archaeological cultures. The main period of its mining and distribution coincides with the Stroke-ornamented ware culture (5100/5000 – 4500/4400 cal BC) and also with the Rössen culture in the same time span. In the western area of the Post-Linear culture neolithic development we find distinctive artefacts, namely marble bracelets. The production chain of these artefacts was unknown until present time. Its understanding is closely connected with the distribution of the raw material from its resources towards settlement areas. On the basis of new finds the reconstruction of the production chain became possible and the basic production and distribution scheme were outlined.
