Description | This article analyzes the oronym Tetrica, located by Roman authors in the country of the Sabines. After the documentation and possible relatives in Latin five hypothetical Indo-European etymologies are discussed, with a special stress on both word-formation and semantic typology. Taking in account these circumstances, a derivation from the root *ter- “to cut, break” seems to be the most promising solution. |
