Description In the late 1950s and the 1960s, numerous alien species were introduced with iron ore into the industrial region in the northeast of the Czech Republic, mainly from southern Ukraine. Their occurrences on iron ore heaps were carefully documented by the local botanist Zdeněk Kilián and published in a series of four articles, co-authored by František Krkavec. In the second part of our communication, we deal with the records of ten species. Lathyrus laxiflorus and Silene stricta, both predominantly Mediterranean species, were once introduced to the iron ore heaps near the town of Polanka nad Odrou (now part of the city of Ostrava) and to Vítkovice (also a part of the city of Ostrava), respectively. Both records represent additions to the Catalogue of alien plants of the Czech Republic as casual neophytes. Among the herbarium specimens of Artemisia, we recognised A. repens of the A. austriaca agg. as another casual neophyte introduced during the late 1950s and early 1960s with iron ore to Ostrava-Vítkovice. We further confirmed the neglected records of Malcolmia africana (i.e. Strigosella africana), introduced to the town of Třinec probably with iron ore from Turkey, and so far somewhat doubtful single records of Catapodium rigidum and Puccinellia gigantea. In addition, we comment on the occurrence of Artemisia pontica: while its records from Ostrava-Vítkovice found in the literature are most likely erroneous, based on misidentifications of A. annua and A. repens, A. pontica was probably collected only once from the iron ore heaps near Polanka nad Odrou. In contrast, we consider some of the records once published by Z. Kilián and F. Krkavec as erroneous. The record of Artemisia maritima subsp. monogyna (i.e. A. santonicum) is based on misidentified specimens of A. repens, those of Euphorbia salicifolia and E. ×intercedens (i.e. E. ×pseudovirgata) on misidentified specimens of E. seguieriana. These corrections were possible only because most (if not all) Kilián’s records were supported by herbarium specimens stored in several public herbaria.
