| Description | This text has a popularizing character, using literary language to present two basic types of compositional thinking. It describes one as traditional, rigorously methodical, and likens it to an "abstract machine". The other he calls the "concrete machine" and describes it as a post-production device that has nowadays, especially thanks to the popularity of so-called spectral music, the status of a new academic standard. At the same time, the text points to the existence of a discourse, determined primarily by the activities of the Institute for Research and Coordination of Music and Acoustics in Paris, which contributes significantly to the emergence, reflection and dissemination of 'concrete machines'. |
