Description | The current pandemic has significantly accelerated the long-term problems of survey research, such as the declining willingness to participate in (especially personal) surveys, the disintegration of interview networks, or the rising costs of various types of surveys. At the same time, there has been a faster spread of technology and an increase in ICT literacy, as well as a shift in large-scale sociological surveys to mixed-mode or online surveys. How important is it for us to maintain random selections in terms of the legitimacy of the survey and the quality of the data? We will discuss these challenges with findings from the TA CR project "Development of multimode data collection and implementation of this type of survey in the field of population, sociological and marketing research", which focused on design and testing data collection by CAPI and CAWI methods. We will show the extent to which it is possible to obtain a representative sample for online surveys by calling random numbers. We will talk about the effectiveness of various motivational elements to gain the trust of the addressed respondents and their willingness to cooperate. And above all, we welcome the ideas and experiences of you - members of the academic community, research agencies and other entities working with questionnaire data. |
