Description | This book investigates the ways in which Czech and Slovak political parties grasped and communicated the questions around European integration and the convergence of the two countries with the European Union in 1989 -1998. Readers will discover how the pro- and anti-EU-integration discourses of Czech and Slovak political parties developed and around which issues the debate was constructed. The book also answers the following questions: Did the positions of political parties faithfully reflect the changes occurring in the EC/EU? Can substantial differences be seen between the policies of Czech and Slovak parties on European integration? Was there any correlation between public opinion and the main topics covered by communications from the political parties and movements? |
