Description | This diploma thesis investigates the conflict of interests between nature protection and cultural heritage in bastion fortification. The environmental history approach is used to examine the development of the historical relationship between vegetation (trees, shrubs, grasses) and bastion fortresses and then is used to explore the case of the FIC Josefov. Basic ideas about the future of the fortified landscape and fortress vegetation in Josefov are connected to the general historical realities of bastion fortification by sociological concepts of heterotopia, utopia, power in landscape, military revolution etc. The output of the work is the interpretation of the current forms of fortress vegetation in Josefov as a result of long-term structural and historical processes that took place in other fortresses. |
