Description | During the period of pregnancy or prenatal period, there are different potential toxic substances that pregnant women come into contact with, although they do not realize the potential toxicity. Pregnant women can daily come into contact with food chemicals such as food additives, natural plants, fungal, animal, and bacterial toxins, residues of veterinary medicinal products, pesticides, and genetically modified substances. Also, a daily drinking regimen can hide in itself waterborne contaminants such as perchlorate, residues of heavy metals, and others. In our review summary, we wanted to briefly summarize given substances with possible embryotoxic and fetotoxic effects when pregnant women are chronically exposed or overdosed. |
