| Description | The paper is devoted to the system of punishment for adult offenders. It presents the characteristics of the system of punishments, defining their types and the interrelationships between them. It also deals with the categorisation of punishments and their arrangement, particularly in the context of the principle of subsidiarity or the economy of criminal repression and the concept of imprisonment as the ultima ratio. It also examines the legal prerequisites for the imposition of selected penalties. It assesses the existing legislation, identifies problems and offers possible de lege ferenda solutions. |
