Description | The present experiments were performed to restore a connection between the motor neurons and biceps muscle following the ventral root avulsion in the rats. The peripheral stump of the musculocutaneous nerve was connected with the ventral horn of the spinal cord by an autogeneous peripheral nerve graft (saphenous nerve). The electron microscopic, electromyographic and behavioural results revealed restoration of the functional connection of the motor neurons and the biceps muscle. |
