Description The method of instrumental neutron activation analysis (INAA) was used for determination of trace amounts of bromine and iodine in connection with the investigation of mutual interaction of these trace elements in the rat thyroid gland. It was found that the rats responded very sensitively to even small increase in the bromide intake by a marked decrease of the I/Br concentration ratio in their thyroids. This decrease was more pronounced under the condition of iodine deficiency.
