Description | In this study, a formulation containing the antibacterial agent colistin for lung application was prepared using different input spray drying parameters (temperature, dispersion or ingredient concentration, nozzle size). In the second part, the incorporation of liposomes (as a potential carrier for colistin) into the microparticles and their stability after the drying process were evaluated. The results show the best properties with a high leucine concentration, dilution of input dispersion, and high drying temperature. Compositions used for liposome batches were not completely effective in stabilizing vesicles during spray drying. However, increasing the concentration of mannitol protectant shows promising results, and the findings obtained are of great importance for further optimization. |
