| Description | The TENSION clinical study is a two-arm, randomized study that compares the safety and effectiveness of endovascular thrombectomy as compared to the best medical care alone in the treatment of acute ischemic stroke in patients with extended stroke lesions defined by an ASPECTS score of 3-5 and in an extended time window. It is a study with adaptive design, interim analysis, and predetermined stopping rules allowing early termination based on either a determination of study success or futility. Up to 665 patients in 40 centers across European countries will be randomized. The study sponsor is the University of Heilderberg in Germany, and five centers participate in the study in the Czech Republic. |
