| Description | The reasons behind the closure of the Faculty of Law in Brno, as presented in literature, have changed over time. Recently, the belief prevailed that the closure of the faculty was mainly due to problems with finding “conscious” and at least partially qualified adepts to fill teacher positions, as well as to the incorrect prediction of decreased need for law graduates in practice and the resulting significant decline in interest in law studies. The attempts to reo pen the faculty in the mid-fifties support this new interpretation and ques tion the earlier claims that the pre-war tradition of the faculty was the main reason for its closure. At the same time, these attempts confirm that it is not appropriate to make the then faculty and university officials responsible for the closure, as they had no influence on this decision. |
