Description | The footprints imprinted on the PAL 113 sandstone slab represent one of the best-preserved fossil tracks of a terrestrial tetrapod found in the Czech Republic. The traces belong to the species Ichniotherium cottae, the origin of which is considered to be large herbivorous tetrapods of the genus Diadectes. Since no skeletal remains of any of the terrestrial vertebrates of the time have been found in the Permian deposits of the Boskovice Basin, this is an exceptional find that expands our knowledge about the diversity of life in this intermountain basin. |
