Description | The qualitative study aimed to map the experience of women who voluntarily underwent sterilization without a medical indication. Interviews were conducted with five childfree women about their experience with the procedure and the effect of the procedure on their lives. The interviews were analyzed using interpretive phenomenological analysis. The results of the analysis showed six emerging themes, including "Being childfree", "Fear of pregnancy", "Freedom", "Reactions of others", "Not being alone" and "Information = everything". The results are discussed in the context of existing research. Finally, the possibilities of practical interdisciplinary cooperation between gynaecologists and psychologists are discussed. |
